“Rumble” is a surf guitar instrumental by Link Wray & His Ray Men. Although this track was recorded way back in 1958, it sounds as cool as ever. The mastermind behind the song is Fred Lincoln “Link” Wray Jr., one of the early pioneers of the surf guitar sound. According to Wikipedia, Wray invented the “power chord” which eventually paved the way for punk and heavy rock.
“Rumble” will be familiar to those who have seen the movie Pulp Fiction. The song plays in the background while John Travolta and Uma Thurman talk about “uncomfortable silences” while eating at Jack Rabbit Slim’s.
